The University of Mary Washington baseball team dropped a 4-1 decision to visiting Catholic University on Wednesday at Dickinson Stadium. The Eagles fall to 3-2 overall, and see their pitching staff's 21-straight scoreless inning streak come to an end.

The Cardinals wasted little time in jumping ahead, scoring three runs in the first on a two-out three-run double that follwed a pair of two-out singles and a walk. After the first the Eagles settled down on the mound, allowing just one more run in the next eight innings, but could score once, in the sixth, on Seth Jordan's RBI single.

Offensively, Jordan was 2-3 with an RBI and a walk for UMW, while Brendan Jones walked and singled and Kevin Yarnell singled. On the mound, junior lefty Ben Sisk took the loss, allowing three earned runs on five hits in three innings. He walked three and struck out three. UMW used six pitchers in the game.

Andrew Carroll gained the win for Catholic, allowing one earned run in 5.1 innings, with three hits allowed, four walks and three strikeouts.

The Eagles will return to action on Saturday when they host Penn State Altoona for a noon doubleheader.
