The University of Mary Washington baseball team saw its defense let it down on Wednesday, as the Eagles committed five errors in a 9-1 loss at Randolph-Macon College on Wednesday afternoon. The Eagles fall to 7-11-1 on the season.

The Eagles plated the first run of the game, as Brent Steffey doubled and scored on a Kevin yarnell single in the second inning. The Jackets answered with an unearned run in the second, and added one in the third, two in the fourth and sixth, and three in the eighth.

Mary Washington was led offensively by Yarnell's pair of singles and Steffey's double. Sophomore Ben Sisk took the loss on the mound, allowing two earned runs on eight hits in six innings with four walks and three strikeouts.

The Eagles will be back in action on Saturday when they visit St. Mary's College for a CAC doubleheader at 1:00 p.m.
