UMW's Straub Named Cal Ripken College League's Co-Pitcher of the Week
Chad Kuhl (Delaware) of Youse’s Orioles and Michael Straub (Falls Church, Va., George Mason)(Mary Washington) of the Vienna River Dogs have been named the Cal Ripken Collegiate Baseball League Co-Pitchers of the Week for the week of July 4 to July 10. Both pitchers knocked off the first-place Bethesda Big Train in separate starts this week. Both went eight innings without allowing a run. Kuhl scattered seven hits and a walk while striking out seven in his win over Bethesda on July 6.

Four days later, Straub took a no-hitter into the sixth inning against Bethesda, and for the game faced just two batters over the minimum. He allowed only two Big Train hits, struck out five batters, and did not allow a walk. Straub earned the win on just two days rest after taking a hard-luck loss in relief on July 7. He went three innings against the T-Bolts in that game, allowing a run on just one hit and one walk while striking out a batter.
