UMW Baseball Closes Regular Season with 12-7 Win at Ferrum

Senior second baseman Eric Rehbein went 2-5 with a home run and four RBI to lead the University of Mary Washington baseball team to a 12-7 win at Ferrum College on Thursday afternoon in the regular season finale. The Eagles improve to 27-15 with the victory.

After Ferrum went ahead with one run in the first, the Eagles answered with four in the second and never looked back, plating one run in the third, four in the fourth, and two in the fifth. The Eagles scored 12 times on 11 hits, with Rehbein, Beattie Southerland, Brent Steffey, and Jackson Clement each collecting a pair of hits. Seth jordan had a hit with two runs scored and two RBI.

On the mound, sophomore Michael Straub gained the win, allowing seven hits in 5.1 innings, with four walks and four strikeouts. Torey Mancari allowed one run in 3.2 innings for the save. Straub closes the year with a 6-0 record in his six starts.
