UMW Baseball Falls to Frostburg, 3-0

BOXSCORE

The University of Mary Washington baseball team turned a triple play, but couldn't build that momentum into a victory, as the Eagles fell to Frostburg State University, 3-0, on Thursday at Dickinson Stadium. The Eagles fall to 19-12 on the season, and 7-9 in CAC play.

The Bobcats scored on an unearned run in the second, and added two more runs in the fifth on a pair of doubles and a single.

The Eagles were led at the plate by junior shortstop Brent Steffey (Colonial Beach, Va., Colonial Beach), who had three hits in four at bats, while Ben Sisk (Chesterfield, Va., Cosby) doubled. Senior lefty Parker Talbert (Virginia Beach, Va., Cape Henry Collegiate) pitched a complete game in defeat, allowing two earned runs on eight hits in nine innings, walking none and striking out eight.

Frostburg's Greg Ross allowed four hits in six innings in gaining the win.

Mary Washington will visit Frostburg on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. for the final regular season league games before next week's CAC Tournament.
