UMW Baseball Tops Bridgewater, 16-1

Freshman Ben Sisk (Chesterfield, Va., Cosby) won his first start, allowing no earned runs on one hit in seven innings to lead the University of Mary Washington baseball team to a 16-1 win over Bridgewater College on Monday afternoon. The Eagles improve to 18-11 overall on the season.

Offensively, the Eagles scored in every inning but two, posting 19 hits. Eric Rehbein (Alexandria, Va., Gonzaga), Brent Steffey (Colonial Beach, Va., Colonial Beach), and Santino Rosanova (Laurel, Md., DeMatha) each had three hits to lead the Eagles, with Steffey adding two runs scored and three RBI, Rehbein scoring twice, and Rosanova driving in two. Mitchell Herringshaw (Chardon, Ohio, Notre Dame Latin), Beattie Southerland (Purcellville, Va., Loudoun Valley), and Jeff Rezach (Mendham, N.J., West Morris Mendham) had two hits each for the Eagles.

Sisk allowed just one hit and one unearned run in seven innings, with four walks and four strikeouts. Southerland and Nick McGovern (Springfield, Va., Robert E. Lee) each pitched a scoreless inning of relief.

The Eagles will visit Catholic University on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.
