UMW Baseball Drops NCAA Tourney Game to Shenandoah, 10-5
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The Shenandoah Hornets came from behind twice to advance to the 2010 NCAA Baseball South Regional championship with a 10-5 win over Mary Washington on Friday morning at Methodist University.

Mary Washington came out firing with two runs on three hits in the first inning. Shenandoah was shut down in the first, but took the lead in the second inning with four runs on four hits. The Eagles battled back in the fourth and put together three runs capitalizing on a defensive error.

The Hornets' Jesse Henry sparked a rally in the sixth and Greg Van Sickler reached on an error. Scott van Dusseldorp drove in Henry for the tying run and Cory Nelson's double to left center gave Shenandoah the lead. The Hornets held the 7-5 advantage through six before tacking on two in the seventh and one in the eighth to secure the 10-5 win.

Henry finished 3-for-4 with three RBI while Jon Holcomb and Mike Smith went 3-for-5 for the Hornets.

Nick Espinosa was 3-for-4 for Mary Washington.

Ben Hendrickson went the distance on the mound for Shenandoah scattering 11 hits for four earned runs.

Nick Corbin took the loss in five and two thirds innings while Ryan Engelking finished in relief.

With the victory, Shenandoah advances to the championship against the winner of game nine. Mary Washington will face Salisbury at approximately 6 p.m. for game nine.
