UMW Baseball Drops CAC Pair at Wesley

The University of Mary Washington baseball team dropped a pair of games at Capital Athletic Conference foe Wesley College on Saturday in Dover, Del. The Eagles fell in the opener, 3-1, before dropping the second game, 5-3.

The Eagles had just three hits in the opener, as Eric Rehbein (Alexandria, Va., Gonzaga) singled and walked, Shane Sixsmith (Alexandria, Va., West Potomac) doubled and walked, and Santino Rosanova (Laurel, Md., DeMatha) singled. Freshman Zach Goodwyn (Spotsylvania, Va., Spotsylvania) took the loss, allowing just five hits in six innings, with five walks and four strikeouts.

In game two, the Eagles led, 3-1, with two outs in the seventh before Wesley hit a game-winning grand slam. Freshman Seth Jordan (Springfield, Va., South County) and senior Alex Howell (Glen Allen, Va., Hermitage) each had two hits to pace the Eagles, who also got hits from Rehbein, Rosanova, Nick Espinosa, Sixsmith, and Jackson Clement. Junior John Miscioscia (Wilton, Conn., Wilton) took a no decision after allowing two runs in 6.1 innings on five hits with four walks and six strikeouts.

The Eagles will host Bates College for a doubleheader on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
