Butler was the first four-year All-American in any sport in school history, gaining eight All-America awards in her career at UMW. She is the only swimmer in Capital Athletic Conference history to gain both CAC Swimmer of the Year and Rookie of the Year the same year (1997). In four years at UMW, she never lost a CAC Championship races going unbeaten in 12 individual and eight relay races. She still ranks in the school’s all-time top 10 in the 100 yard butterfly, the 200 yard butterfly, the 200 individual medley, and the 400 IM. She is currently the Director of Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity/Title IX at Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne.
