Baseball Team's 27-7 Season Ranks Sixth on UMW Athletics Top 10 for 2014-15

The UMW baseball team finished 27-7 last spring, with six players gaining all-conference honors, as the team achieved its highest winning percentage since 1997. That effort ranks as the sixth top moment on UMW Athletics' top ten for 2014-15.

The Eagles, with just one senior on the roster in All-America catcher Jono Haught, lost just one game all season to an opponent that didn't reach the NCAA Division III World Series. The Eagles were ranked regionally and nationally all season.

Haught batted .457, with a school record 10 home runs and 52 RBI. He was named as a second team All-American by the ABCA and Rawlings, as well as D3Baseball.com. He was joined on the all-region team by James Keller, David Slupek, Ryan Van Assche, and Mitch Moynihan. They were joined by Tyler Daig, who set the school season saves record, on the all-conference squad.

Van Assche finished 10-1 on the season with a 2.01 ERA and 77 strikeouts. Keller gained first team honors after claiming first team All-CAC honors after batting .379 with two homers and 34 RBI.

Slupek took second team honors after a great freshman season that saw him bat .390 with four home runs and 40 RBI.

Moynihan took third team honors after hitting .369 with three home runs and 43 RBI.
