UMW Women's Tennis Competes on Day Two at ITA Regional; Two Doubles Pairs Advance to Semis on Monday

The University of Mary Washington women's tennis team fared well on day two of the ITA Regional Championship on Sunday at UMW. The highlight of the day came in main draw doubles, where Caroline Mosberg and Sara Fioretti will face Shelby Harris and Kait Brogan in one semifinal on Monday.

Mosberg and Fioretti has advanced to the semifinals after winning their first round matchup of McNeil and Shutley, 8-0, and then Carlson and Harwood, the third seed, from CNU, 8-6. They then won in the quarterfinals, Makino and Torres, 8-2, to reach the semis.

Harris and Brogan, the top seed, defeated Tsu and Vizelman in the second round, 8-3, and fifth seeded Martelmass and Rao of Carnegie Mellon, 8-1, in the quarterfinals.

Other highlights from Sunday included Ashley Barrow and Chrissy Gaul winning their doubles Blue draw.  Berri Flood and Brittany McBride advanced to the semifinals of their doubles Blue draw.

Shelby Harris advanced to the quarterfinals of the championship singles draw, and Kait Brogan got to the round of 16. Berri Flood won her Blue singles draw. Danielle Mirabella, Brittany McBride and Alina Suyama advanced to the finals of their Blue singles draws.
The championships will conclude on Monday.
