#28 UMW Men's Tennis Sweeps #20 CNU, 9-0, in Saturday CAC Matchup

The 28th ranked University of Mary Washington men's tennis team defeated 20th ranked Christopher Newport, 9-0, on Saturday afternoon at the UMW Indoor Tennis Center. The Eagles improve to 15-7 on the season.

The Eagles gained momentum in doubles, as Brandon Griffin and Matt Miles won at one, 8-4, before Eric Hurwitz and Nolan Perugini won at two, 9-7, and David Lunding-Johansson and Derek Hagino won at three, 9-7. 

In singles, Griffin won at one, 6-4, 6-2; Lunding-Johansson won at two, 6-3, 6-3; Hurwitz won at three, 3-6, 6-3, 13-11; Miles won at four, 6-0, 6-3; Hagino won at five, 6-0, 6-0; and Patrick Hughes won at six, 6-2, 6-3.

The Eagles remain undefeated in conference play with the win, and gain the top seed in the CAC Tournament which begins next weekend. UMW will host Carnegie Mellon University on Sunday at noon. Live video will be available.
