#19 UMW Volleyball Splits Saturday Matches at Salisbury

After seeing its school record season-opening win streak snapped in five games in the opener, the University of Mary Washington volleyball team rebounded to win a five-game match in its second match of the day on Saturday afternoon in Salisbury, Md. The Eagles dropped a 19-25, 19-25, 25-21, 25-17, 15-11 decision to Salisbury in the opener, before topping Stevens Institute, 25-21, 19-25, 25-16, 22-25, 15-10.

Against the Sea Gulls, UMW jumped out to a 2-0 lead, but the hoss came storming back to win the next three to win the match. Emily Flamm led the Eagles with 13 kills in 25 attempts, while Bryanna Miller and Jordan Lyons each scored 10 kills. Brenna Campbell led the way with 22 assists, with Lauren Foley adding 20, and Lyons led with four service aces. Hannah Livermon led UMW with 34 digs, with Lyons adding 16 and Foley 14.Caitlyn Burch had six otal blocks while Chloe Crosen added eight kills and four block assists.

UMW rebounded to top Stevens in its second match. Burch led UMW with 16 kills and six total blocks, while Miller added 11 kills, and a team-high 22 digs. Foley led wih 22 assists, Livermon posted 22 digs and Lyons 21 to go with three aces. 

The Eagles will be back in action next weekend when they play a series of matches at UC Santa Cruz.
