UMW Volleyball Falls at Marymount, Tops EMU To Close Regular Season With 22-11 Mark

The University of Mary Washington volleyball team dropped a 3-1 decision at Marymount University in the final Capital Athletic Conference match of the regular season, but bounced back to top Eastern Mennonite University, 3-0, on Saturday.

The Eagles fell against the Saints, 25-21, 25-22, 15-25, 25-15. Freshman Dani Fiore led UMW with 13 kills, while Rachel Hendricks added 11 kills and two solo blocks. Emma Olson had 23 assists while Jenifer Grove added 16, and Caroline Porco had 18 digs to lead UMW.

UMW bounced back to beat Eastern Mennonite, 25-10, 25-19, 25-22. Hendricks led with 13 kills against one error, while Lexi Brown added eight kills. Olson scored 20 assists, with Grove adding 13, and Porco and Olson each had seven digs. Megan Payne, Victoria Howell, and Emma Murphy each had two solo blocks for UMW.

The Eagles finish the CAC regular season with a 5-4 record, and will be the fourth seed in the CAC Tournament starting on Tuesday. UMW will host fifth seed St. Mary's College at 7 p.m. at the Anderson Center.
