UMW Women's Tennis Falls to Christopher Newport, 5-2, in C2C Championship

The University of Mary Washington women's tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision to Christopher Newport University in the 2024 Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference championship on Sunday afternoon at the UMW Indoor Tennis center. The Eagles slip to 9-10 on the season.

The Eagles started strong in doubles play, winning quickly at two, as Emily Beckner and Addison Felts defeated  Mia Linam and Samantha Robertson, 8-2. CNU scored a hard-fought win at one, 8-6, before the Eagles scored a tough 8-7 (3) win at three, as Riley Smith and Linda Dimitroff topped Megan Bauer and Kylie Schaefer.

CNU scored singles wins at six, one and two, before the Eagles bounced back from first set losses at three and five, as Felts and Dimitroff forced third sets before the Captains gained the clinching win at four, 6-4, 7-6 (6).

The Eagles will await their fate with the NCAA Tournament, as the selection show will air on Monday at 1:30 p.m. on ncaa.com.
