UMW Women's Tennis Blanks TCNJ, 5-0, in NCAA Tourney 2nd Round

The 33rd ranked University of Mary Washington women's tennis team defeated The College of New Jersey, 5-0, on Saturday afternoon in Middletown, Connecticut in the second round of the NCAA Division III Tournament. The Eagles improve to 11-9 on the season, and will advance to Sunday's third round against host and #4 ranked Wesleyan University.

The Eagles gained three impressive wins in doubles. Hana Kimmey and Amanda Hagino claimed an 8-2 win over Jenny Landels and Charlotte Roarty at one, and Emily Beckner and Riley Smith claimed an 8-3 win at three over Aira Abalos and Aamora Coronado-Luz. Abby Moghtader and Rebecca Stepleman completed the sweep with an 8-3 win at two over Chase Eisenberg and Alexa Vasile.

In singles, Smith posted a 6-0, 6-0 win over Landels at six, and Kimmey gained the clincher with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Vasile.

The Eagles will meet Wesleyan for the second straight year in the third round, having dropped a 5-2 decision in last year's NCAA Tournament.
