On the back of an early goal off of the foot of Regan Boyer, the Mary Washington (1-0) women's soccer team didn't have to worry much in its 1-0 victory over Randolph-Macon (0-1) on Friday afternoon.

Off an assist from Maci Landel, Boyer netted the lone goal scored in the contest in the sixth minute of play passed the out-stretched arms of Yellow Jackets keeper Abby Cook.

On the Eagles side of the pitch, Sydney Alexander saved both of the shots that were fired at her.

For the day, Mary Washington shot the ball four times in the first half and then five more in the second half. The defense did its part the victory, allowing RMC to have a shot at the net just once in the first half and then only three more times in the second half.

Defender Natalie Anderson had both of her shots saved by the keeper, while forward Kaitlyn Venzen was the other Eagle who recorded multiple shots on Friday.

Mary Washington visits Marymount on Sunday afternoon in search of a second victory in a row to open the season.
