UMW Women's Soccer Falls to Ferrum, 1-0, in Waning Seconds

The University of Mary Washington women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to visiting Ferrum College on Sunday afternoon at the Battleground. The Panthers scored the decisive goal with just eight seconds remaining in regulation.

The Eagles held a commanding lead in shots, 19-7, as well as corner kicks, 11-0. The Eagles drew a late penalty kick with three minutes remaining in the contest, but missed wide. The Panthers were able to score with eight seconds left on a score from Payton Stuart.

UMW goalkeeper Kelcie Macomber made two saves, while Ferrum's Taylor Dodson gained the shutout with six saves.

Mary Washington will return to action next Saturday when they host Marymount University at 1:00 p.m. as part of Eagle Nation Day.
