UMW Women's Lacrosse Falls at #6 Salisbury, 14-4

The University of Mary Washington women's lacrosse team dropped a 14-4 decision at sixth-ranked Salisbury University on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles slip to 9-7 on the season.

The game stayed tight throughout a defensive-oriented first quarter, with Salisbury gaining the lead with two scores midway through the period. In the second, UMW's Katie Blair scored after the Sea Gulls opeed the quarter with a goal, but the hosts scored three straight to end the second, and take a 6-1 lead to halftime.

In the third, Molly Daw cut the margin to 6-2 with the opening salvo, but the Sea Gulls scored the final five goals of the third. Kayla Sarazin opened the fourth with a goal on a free position shot for the Eagles, and, after a SU goal, Erin Steinberg scored on a Sarazin assist. 

The Sea Gulls led in shots, 46-15, and ground balls, 19-8. UMW goalkeeper Cailyn Tripp made 18 saves in goal for the Eagles.

UMW will return to action next Saturday when they host Christopher Newport University in the regular season finale at 4:00 p.m.
