UMW Women's Lacrosse Tops Albright, 16-5, on Senior Day

Senior Rebecca Pullen scored a career-high six goals on Senior Day in leading the University of Mary Washington women's lacrosse team to a 16-5 victory over Albright College on Saturday at the Battleground. The Eagles improve to 7-6 on the season.

The Eagles ran out to a 5-0 first quarter lead. Sophomore Katie Blair started the scoring at 12:45 on a free position shot, and Pullen conected for her first of the day at 7:01 on a Samantha Stachowiak assist. Senior Carly Lanzarotta scored on a Bridget Crowley feed at 6:13, and Clare Madden followed unassisted at 2:17. Pullen used a Stachowiak assist at 1:37 to cap the quarter.

In the second, Pullen started the proceedings at 9:30, and Erin Steinberg followed on a Pullen assist at 7:25. Pullen scored on a free position shot at 6:13, and Lanzarotta scored on an Abby Vorsteg assist at 5:14. Pullen scored on a Leanne Larkin pass at 4:25, and Caeley Terapane connected at 2:32 on a Pullen pass.

Pullen opened the third with a score assisted by Kayla Sarazin, and Terapane followed with a free position shot. Albright scored the next two to cut the margin to 13-2 heading to the fourth quarter. Victoria Mueller scored on a Rory Black assist at 13:12, before the Lions scored two more. Kendel Iwanicki scored on a Micaela Burneo feed at 6:50, and Sophie Mace scored at 4:58.

The Eagles led in shots, 29-21, as well as ground balls, 18-17. Senior goalie Reilly Miller had five saves without allowing a score in 35 minutes, and Brooke Barsella made three saves and Allison Carolan one in relief.

The Eagles will be back in action on Wednesday when they visit Moravian College at 4:00 p.m.
