UMW Softball Drops Doubleheader to #10 Randolph-Macon on Tuesday

The Mary Washington softball team dropped a doubleheader against Randolph-Macon in Fredericksburg, Va. on Tuesday afternoon.

Game 1 - Eagles lose - 3-0

Samantha Stuart got the ball for Mary Washington to start Game 1 and she turned in a solid performance in the circle, yielding just two runs in her four innings of work. Stuart gave up four hits, walked none and struck out five. Brooklynne James tossed two innings, while Taylor Hudson worked a scoreless seventh.

Brigid Ward recorded the lone hit for UMW in the third.

Game 2 - Eagles lose - 4-1

Hudson recieved the start for the Eagles in Game 2, pitching a pair of scoreless frames, while Caitlyn Burch relieved her in the third.

The Yellow Jackets scored a run in the third, but the Eagles tied it when Hannah Steele drove in Emily Angel by reaching on an error. But that was as close as the Eagles would get to taking the lead as RMC added three more in the fifth.

Emma Schieda, Hailee Danneker, and Angel all added hits for the Eagles in Game 2.

Mary Washington is back in action with a doubleheader against Bridgewater on Wednesday afternoon in Fredericksburg, Va. First pitch is set for 2 p.m.
