Four Eagles Named to 2023 All-C2C Softball Team

The University of Mary Washington softball team saw four players named to the 2023 Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference Softball All-Conference Team. Juniors Caitlyn Burch and Emma Schieda were named to the first team, while junior Aminah Shakir and sophomore Nya Lloyd were named honorable mention selections.

Burch gains first team all-conference honors for the third straight year, after posting an 11-6 record in the regular season, with a career-best 1.25 ERA in 112 innings pitched. She threw 15 complete games, striking out 119 batters and walking just 16.

Schieda gains all-conference for the second time, after leading the Eagles with a .396 average, five home runs, and 24 RBI. Among her 40 hits in 101 at bats were seven doubles and five home runs, and she struck out just 11 times while taking nine walks.

Shakir gains all-conference honors for the first time, after batting .306 in 111 at bats, with four doubles, two triples, and a home run. She scored 23 runs while driving in 10, and drew 10 walks while striking out just 12 times.

Lloyd also draws all-conference honors for the first time, after batting .291 in 29 games. She posted a double and triple, scoring nine runs and driving in eightwhile stealing four bases.

The Eagles will compete in the C2C Tournament starting on Thursday in Salisbury, Md.
