UMW Softball Drops Two to #1 Salisbury in C2C Action

The University of Mary Washington softball team dropped a pair of games to top-ranked Salisbury University on Saturday in Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference action. UMW, who fell in game one, 3-0, and the second, 10-1, falls to 14-12 on the season.

In the opener, Salisbury scored one in the third inning, and two in the fifth for the only runs of the game.

Shelby Presgrave and Emma Schieda provided hits for the Eagles. Caitlyn Burch took the loss, allowing two earned runs on five hits in seven innings, with no walks and six strikeouts.

In game two, Salisbury scored three in the second, but the Eagles got one back in their half, as Schieda singled, and pinch runner Nya Lloyd scored on a groundout.

Schieda and Abby Fielder had hits for the Eagles. Samantha Stuart took the loss, allowing four runs on six hits in four innings, with four walks and one strikeout.

The Eagles will be back in action on Tuesday when they visit Catholic University at 3:00 p.m.
