#21 UMW Men's Tennis Tops Salisbury, 5-0, in C2C Semifinal

The 21st ranked University of Mary Washington men's tennis team scored a 5-0 victory over Salisbury University on Saturday afternoon at the UMW Indoor Tennis center. The Eagles improve to 15-7 on the season, and advance to Sunday's C2C Championship.

The Eagles started with a sweep in doubles. Rishi Charan Shankar and Peter Leese scored an 8-4 win at one, Broack Ladehoff and Andrew Cooper scored an 8-6 win at three, and Trevor Rein and Evan Fisher completed the sweep with an 8-7 win at two.

In singles, UMW used a 6-1, 6-2 victory from Leese at five and a 6-2, 6-0 win from Charan Shankar at one for the clincher.

The Eagles will host Christopher Newport University, who topped UC Santa Cruz, 5-2, in the other semifinal on Saturday. Sunday's championship will begin at 10:00 a.m.
