#18 UMW Men's Tennis Falls to Washington & Lee, 5-4, on Friday Evening

The 18th ranked University of Mary Washington men's tennis team dropped a 5-4 decision to visiting Washington & Lee University on Friday evening at the UMW Indoor Center. The Eagles fall to 4-3 on the season.

UMW went ahead in doubles, claiming a pair of wins. Andrew Cooper and Brock Ladehoff scored an 8-6 victory at two, and Artis Hart and Peter Leese scored an 8-4 win at three.

In singles play, UMW scored the first point, as Andrew Watson picked up a 6-2, 6-2 win at two. The Eagles dropped matches at three and five to tie the team score at 3-3, but UMW bounced back ahead with a win at six from Ryan Meyer, 7-5, 7-5. The Generals knotted the score and then claimed a three-set tiebreaker win at four for the victory.

The Eagles will be back in action on Sunday when they host Averett University at 1:00 p.m.
