#18 UMW Men's Tennis Tops Salisbury, 5-0, in C2C Semifinal

The 18th ranked University of Mary Washington men's tennis team swept a 5-0 decision from Salisbury University on Saturday evening at the UMW Indoor Tennis Center in the semifinal round of the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference tournament. The Eagles imrove to 14-5 on the season.

In doubles, the Eagles overcame some tense moments to sweep all three matches. At three, Cole Tecce and Peter Leese claimed an 8-1 win over Russell Willenborg and Gavin Reagle. At two, the Eagles survived a late break, and Rishi Charan Shankar and Nick Spera claimed an 8-5 victory. At one, Moses Hutchison and Andrew Watson outlasted Brad Pappalardo and Gianluca Beaujon, 8-7 (3) in a tiebreaker.

Charan Shankar started singles play with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Beaujon, and Watson then claimed the clincher at three, with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Willenborg.

The Eagles will advance to Saturday's C2C Championship, against Christopher Newport. Match time is set for 2:00 p.m.
