#19 UMW Men's Tennis Falls to #12 NC Wesleyan, 8-1, on Tuesday

The 19th ranked University of Mary Washington men's tennis team dropped an 8-1 decision to 12th ranked North Carolina Wesleyan College on Tuesday afternoon at the UMW Indoor Tennis Center. The Eagles slip to 13-5 on the season.

The Eagles were swept in doubles, with Moses Hutchison and Andrew Watson falling at one, 8-6; Rishi Charan Shankar and Nick Spera falling at two, 8-5; and Cole Tecce and Peter Leese dropping an 8-2 decision at three.

In singles play, the Eagles gained their point at two, as Charan Shankar downed Juan Vallejo, 6-0, 6-4. Hutchison fell at one to nationally-ranked Jhonny Acosta, 7-6, 6-3, Watson falling at three, 6-0, 7-5, Tecce falling at four, 6-4, 4-6, 1-0; Spera at five, 6-3, 6-4, and Leese at six, 6-3, 6-1.

The Eagles will be back in action as they host the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference Championships at the Battleground on May 6-8.
