1994-95 Mary Washington College Men's Swimming Season in Review

The Eagles lost just two seniors from last year's 5-4 team which just missed capturing a fourth Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) Championship in five years. Therefore, head coach Matt Kinney believes that the 1995-96 contingent can scale greater heights.

Buoyed by a number of returning All-CAC performers and a potentially strong recruiting class, MWC should again contend for the CAC crown and another winning dual-meet season. Junior Tim Selgas (Harrisburg, PA) captured the 100 and 200-yard butterfly at CACs, setting a conference record in the latter.

Other returning All-Conference swimmers are: 1994 double CAC breaststroke winner Scott Wagner (Sr./Burke, VA), Matt Anderson (So./ Wilmington, DE), Cordis Carter (Sr./New Providence, NJ), Ryan Forbrich (So./Camp Hill, PA), Alex Inge (Jr./Lynchburg, VA), Matt Kennedy (Jr./Fort Washington, MD), Todd Leatherman Or. /Lexington Park, MD), Lee Lewis (Sr./ Lynchburg, VA), Billy Prout (So./Richmond, VA), Chris Rice (So./Perry, NY) and Steve Smith (Jr./ Stephens City, VA).

Mary Washington perennially faces a challenging schedule, and this year's is no exception. Division I program Richmond and Howard join Division III stalwarts Washington & Lee, Catholic and Gettysburg on the 1995-96 dual-meet slate. The Eagles open the campaign Oct. 28 with the CAC Relays, and close out the regular season Feb.16-18 with the CAC Championships, hosted for the sixth straight year by MWC.

"The team's potential for success is excellent," said Kinney. "A talented, dedicated group of upperclassmen should combine with a promising corps of underclassmen, and therefore continue the winning tradition here at Mary Washington."
