#16 Eagles Down Southern Virginia, 19-1, on Saturday

Fredericksburg, Va.-- The #16 University of Mary Washington Eagles men's lacrosse team displaced Southern Virginia 19-1 on Saturday. UMW got eight goals in the first to cruise to victory. The Eagles move to 7-1 overall and remain a perfect 5-0 at home.

Griffin Burke got the scoring started just 40 seconds into the contest off a pass from Chip Pittard. Luke Dick got a pair of tallies in the opening quarter, one from a Pittard assist. Mike Marson also scored twice for the Eagles; while Greg Smith, Chris Garcia and Billy Kelly also scored in the first.

Junior Jack Bondurant opened the second with a goal for the Eagles, and would later score his second midway through the stanza. Freshman Deion Raney got his first tallies of his career, scoring at 12:41 (from Teddy Blyskal) and 00:46 (unassisted). Blyskal scored a goal in the quarter off a Matt Cherry assist. Cherry would go on to score later in the quarter unassisted. Johnny Esposito got the seventh goal for the Eagles in the second with 3:35 remaining before halftime.

John Jamison got his first two collegiate goals in the third quarter to give UMW a 17-0 lead. Jack Harris added the only other goal in the third for the Eagles.

Mack Cary got the final tally for the Eagles in the fourth, off a Cherry assist. Southern Virginia would get on the board for their lone goal, thanks to Mike Bangerter with 3:10 to go.

UMW outshot the Knights, 40-10, and also went 21-24 on faceoffs. Three Eagle keepers comibined for the one goal win.

The Eagles return to action next Saturday, March 29th. The Eagles host #2 Salisbury in a CAC showdown at 3:00 p.m.
