#20 UMW Men's Basketball Falls to #24 Stockton, 80-66, on Monday

The 20th ranked University of Mary Washington men's basketball team dropped an 80-66 decision to Stockton University on Monday evening in Ashland, Va. The Eagles slip to 8-2 on the season.

Playing without last week's Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Week Greg Rowson, the Eagles fell behind early on, battled back to tie the score at 25-25 with 6:33 remaining in the first half, but trailed by 11 at halftime.

In the second half, the Ospreys maintained their advantage, with the Eagles drawing no closer than 11 in the final 20 minutes.

The Eagles were led by senior guard Da'Shawn Cook's 22 points (5-15 FG, 10-12 FT), while junior guard Zack Blue scored 13 points on 5-10 shooting, and added seven rebounds and five assists. Sophomore guard Erik Prosise made 4-8 shots including three three pointers scored 11.

UMW shot 44% from the floor (22-50), making 9-31 three point attempts and 13-22 free throws. Stockton shot 49.1% (28-57), making 11-28 three point attempts and 13-21 free throws. The Ospreys led in rebounding 35-31.

The Eagles will be back in action tomorrow in the consolation game of the Randolph-Macon Tournament, with tipoff set for 2:00 p.m.
