Sophomore Grayson Scott scored a pair of goals, and senior Emma Bernard added a goal and an assist in leading the University of Mary Washington field hockey team to a 4-2 victory at Randolph-Macon College on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles improve to 4-2 on the season.
After a scoreless first quarter, the Eagles forged ahead in the second, as Scott scored just 20 seconds into the quarter, and Bernard followed on a Scott assist at 20:47. The Yellow Jackets cut the margin to 2-1 at 37:19, but junior Lauren Boucher extended the lead back to two at 41:55 on an Anna Reed assist.
Scott scored another at 47:39 on a Bernard assist, before RMC scored another on a penalty stroke midway through the fourh quarter.
The Eagles led in shots, 20-6, as well as penalty corners, 11-5. UMW goalkeeper Bailey McNabb made one stop in gaining the victory.
UMW will return to action on Wednesday when they host Washington & Lee University at 6:00 p.m.
