UMW Field Hockey Drops 3-1 Decision at Salisbury in C2C Semifinal

The University of Mary Washington field hockey team dropped a 3-1 decision at Salisbury University on Wednesday night in the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference semifinal. The Eagles close the season with a record of 9-7.

After a scoreless first quarter, Mary Washington gained the lead, as sophomore Emma Bernard (Fredericksburg, Va.) scored the game's first goal on an assist from Sydney Keating (Fairfax, Va.), at 16:29. Salisbury scored to tie the score with 4:48 remaining in the second quarter, and the score stood at 1-1 at halftime.

Salisbury went ahead late in the third quarter, and added another to open the fourth to cap the scoring.

The Sea Gulls led in shots, 16-7, as well as penalty corners, 11-1. UMW senior goalkeeper Chloe Billy (Henrico, Va.) made five saves in goal for the Eagles.
