Steele's Goals Lead #12 UMW Field Hockey Past Randolph-Macon, 4-0

Freshman Jenna Steele scored a pair of goals in leading the 12th ranked University of Mary Washington field hockey team to a 4-0 victory at Randolph-Macon College on Wednesday in Ashland, Va. The Eagles improve to 6-0 on the season.

The Eagles opened the game with a goal form junior Caitlin Baker with 25 minutes remaining in the first half. Steele netted her first goal of the game with seven minutes left in the half, and scored again with four minutes elapsed into the second half. Senior Florence George capped the scoring with 10 minutes left in the game.

"I thought we gave a solid team effort", said UMW head coach Lindsey Elliott. "We saw some young players step up and play well today."

UMW led in shots, 42-7, and had 21 penalty corners to four for the hosts. Senior goalie Claire Gianelle had four saves in goal for UMW.

Mary Washington will return to action next Tuesday when they visit Washington & Lee University at 6:00 p.m.
