Junior baseball standout Ty Lowe has been named as the March winner of the Virginia Lottery UMW Male Athlete of the Month.

Lowe, whose Eagles rank 28th nationally by Collegiate Baseball Magazine, batted .347 for the month of March (24-69), with 16 runs scored, three doubles, a home run, and 18 RBI. On the mound, Lowe pitched to a 3-1 record, with two saves, and gave up just five earned runs in 15 innings, with 14 strikeouts.

He gained the win in relief as UMW defeated defending national champion Eastern Connecticut State, ending their 27-game win streak, and also picked up a save against nationally-ranked Randolph-Macon. He added nine multi-hit games at the plate.
