Chi Alpha Sigma Hosts Successful "Swabs for Service" Event for Gift of Life Organization

Last week, the Chi Alpha Sigma chapter at UMW participated in the community service challenge "Swabs for Service" in partnership with the Gift of Life organization. Gift of Life Marrow Registry is a non-profit, international and public stem cell and bone marrow registry that helps save the lives of people battling blood cancer, sickle cell and other blood disorders by facilitating transplants for patients. To be added to the registry, it is as simple as having the inside of your cheek swabbed.

UMW's chapter stood out by registering the highest number of donors among all participating chapters. The total count of registered donors surpassed 100, marking the event a significant success. Senior swimmer and Chi Alpha Sigma President, Margie Jones, said "It was really great to get our members of Chi Alpha Sigma involved with our campus community in order to register people for the marrow registry. I was really impressed with the number of students who took it upon themselves to register and potentially save someone's life as well as the engagement of our Chi Alpha Sigma members in this event."
