UMW XC Competes at Hood Invite; Both Teams Place Second

The University of Mary Washington men's and women's cross country teams finished in second place among 12 schools at the Hood College Blazer Invitational on Saturday.

The women finished with 42 points, ten behind first place Franklin & Marshall College. Sophomore Kelly Young (Ruckersville, Va. / William Monroe) finished fourth overall with a time of 20:20 over the 5K course, and senior Cameron Delean (South Riding, Va. / Freedom) finished fifth at 20:23. Senior Teresa Guzman (Lorton, Va. / South County) was eighth at 20:49, and junior Grace Pippin (Bristow, Va. / Patriot) was 11th at 21:08. Senior Kenzie Lloyd (Earlysville, Va. / Albemarle) rounded out the Eagles' top five in 14th place at 21:20.

On the men's side, senior Nicholas Onorato (Fairfax Station, Va. / South County) finished in fourth place on the 8K course at 26:29, and senior Justin Libman (Springfield, Va. / West Springfield) finished 10th at 27:05. Senior Blake Mason (Montpelier, Va. / Patrick Henry) took 11th at 27:09, junior Patrick Brown (Alexandria, Va. / Thomas Edison) was 14th at 27:23, and senior Matthew O'Cadiz (Falls Church, Va. / JEB Stuart) took 16th at 37:38 to round out the top five. 

Both teams will be back in action in two weeks at the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference Championships in Santa Cruz, Cal. at 11:00 am local time.
