UMW Men's, Women's Cross Country Both Finish in 20th Place at Rowan Border Battle Races

Both the University of Mary Washington men's and women's cross country teams finished in 20th place among 42 competing schools in the Rowan University Border Battle on Saturday in Glassboro, N.J.

On the men's side, Jeff Gibson finished in fifth place overall with a time of 25:11 to lead the squad. Senior J.P. Burklow finished in 112th place at 26:45, with freshman Blake Mason taking 148th at 27:04. Freshman Matt O'Cadiz took 152nd at 27:08, and sophomore Jake Phillips finished 176th at 27:26.

Johns Hopkins won the men's meet, with SUNY Geneseo taking second, and RPI third.

For the women, UMW finished 20th, led by senior Jillian Weisbeck in 39th place at 22:36, and freshman Cameron Delean in 83rd at 23:16. Sophomore Ashley Applegate was 92nd at 23:19, freshman Kenzie Lloyd was 165th at 24:28, and junior Ava Robb-McCord was 168th at 24:31.

Both teams will have next weekend off before running in the 2018 Capital Athletic Conference Championships in two weeks in Buena Vista, Va.
