UMW Men's Cross Country Places 8th at NCAA Regional, Women Place 10th; Gibson to Nationals

The University of Mary Washington men's cross country team finished in eighth place at the NCAA Division III South-Southeast Regional in Newport News, Va. The Eagle women placed 10th overall in their 6K race.

On the men's side, sophomore Jeff Gibson gained all-region honors and will advance to NCAA Nationals next week by taking ninth overall at 24:45. Senior Kevin Jones finished 31st overall at 25:26 and joined Gibson on the all-region team, junior Kyle Pfohl finished 37th at 25:33, J.P. Burklow placed 39th at 25:37, and freshman Jeffrey Dunn finished 94th at 26:42.

For the women, junior Jillian Weisbeck finished 14th overall in gaining all-region honors, crossing the line at 22:10. Junior Emily Knerr finished 80th at 23:51, sophomore Kristy White finished 87th at 24:02, freshman Ashley Applegate took 95th at 24:10, and senior Marin Bader took 103rd at 24:22.
