Powers Named to AVCA All-East Region Team; Harris Named Region's Top Rookie

University of Mary Washington junior Savannah Powers has been named as a first team All-East Region selection, as released by the American Volleyball Coaches Association on Thursday. Freshman Alana Harris has been named as the region's Rookie of the Year.

Powers, the 2018 Capital Athletic Conference Player of the Year, has posted 2.50 kills per game, with 265 kills, to lead the team. She has recorded 199 digs (1.88 per game), and added 43 service aces and 33 total blocks. She is just the second player in program history to gain first team all-region honors, joining Emma Olson in 2016.

Harris, the 2018 CAC Rookie of the Year, gained regional top newcomer honors after registering 209 kills (1.90 per game), a .263 hitting percentage, 87 total blocks, 78 digs, and 21 service aces. She is the second UMW freshman (joining Powers) to gain regional Rookie of the Year honors.
