Moghtader, Catullo Gains Major Awards as VaSID All-State Women's Tennis Team Named

Fredericksburg, Va. –University of Mary Washington junior Abby Moghtader (Arnold, Md.) was voted as the State College Division Player of the Year and University of Mary Washington head coach Patrick Catullo gained State Coach of the Year as the 2022 Virginia Sports Information Directors announced the College Division Women's Tennis teams on Tuesday.
 
A 2022 ITA All-American in doubles, Moghtader advanced to NCAA Tournament in both singles and doubles. She finished year ranked 31st in the nation, and fourth in the Atlantic South in singles. She earned first team All-Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference in both singles and doubles. Moghtader and Lauren Quinn finished the year ranked sixth in nation in doubles, and third in Atlantic South, in gaining doubles All-America honors after advancing to the NCAA Semifinals.
 
Catullo gains Coach of the Year for the fourth time, after leading Mary Washington to the third round of the NCAA Tournament after gaining the Coast-to-Coast championship with a 14-5 record. The 2022 Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference Coach of the Year, Catullo led the Eagles to a 2022 ITA ranking of 14th nationally in final ranking, and fourth in Atlantic South. UMW finished the year 5-0 vs. Virginia DIII opponents.

Moghtader and senior Claire Coleman were named to the all-state first team in singles, and Moghtader and Quinn were named to the first team in doubles. Coleman and Amanda Hagino were named to the second team in doubles.
