#15 UMW Women's Tennis Tops #30 Cal Tech, 5-4, on Friday Night

The 15th ranked University of Mary Washington women's tennis team defeated 30th ranked Cal Tech, 5-4, on Friday night in Orange, California. The Eagles improve to 4-2 on the season.

In doubles, the Eagles fell at one but won at three, as Amanda Hagino and Olivia Moore won, 8-4. UMW grabbed the lead heading to singles with a hard fought 8-7 win at two from Claire Coleman and Abby Moghtader.

Zoe Panizza gained a 6-2, 6-4 win at six singles, but Cal Tech won at two and five to knot the score at 3-3. Moghtader then won at four, 6-3, 6-4, to give UMW the lead, and then Lauren Quinn gained the clincher at three in a 7-5, 6-3 victory.

The Eagles will be back in action next weekend as they host the Blue/Grey Invitational, hosting Skidmore College on Friday at 3:00 p.m.
