Kaitlyn Venzen Gains Rookie of the Year as W. Soccer All-C2C Named; Five Eagles Recognized

Freshman forward Kaitlyn Venzen (Fredericksburg, Va./Massaponax) was named Rookie of the Year, and five UMW players were honored, as the 2022 Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Teams were announced on Wenesday morning. Senior forward Amanda Krest was named to the first team, while Venzen, sophomore midfielder Eliza Franklin, senior midfielder Hope Grzebien, and senior defender Mikaela O'Fallon were named as second team honorees.

Mary Washington freshman forward Kaitlyn Venzen claims the 2022 C2C Rookie of the Year, after leading the Eagle offense this season with a team-leading 10 goals, as well as 21 points. The freshman has scored goals in seven of the eight Eagle victories in which she has played, and registered three game-winning goals.

Krest is tied for the team lead with 21 points, scoring eight goals and adding five assists. She has played a hand in multiple goals in four games, and posted the game winners against Bridgewater and Mount Aloysius.

Franklin gains all-conference accolades for the first time. She has played in 14 games, starting 13. Grzebien also gains all-C2C honors for the first time. She has scored two goals and two assists, with both scores coming as game winners, over Marymount and Salisbury. O'Fallon, who moved to defender this season, has scored three goals, and has been pivotal in UMW's stingy defense that allowed just 11 goals all regular season.

The Eagles will face Finlandia University in the C2C Tournament First Round on Thursday in Newport News, Va., at 7:00 p.m.
