UMW Women's Soccer Falls to #22 Christopher Newport at Homecoming

The University of Mary Washington women's soccer team dropped a 7-1 decision to Christopher Newport University on Saturday at the Battleground. The Eagles slip to 9-3-1 on the season.

Christopher Newport started the scoring with a goal at 6:46, and added another at 11:09, both from Riley Cook. At 20:34, Carson Pokorny pushed the lead to 3-0. The Eagles got on the board with a score from sophomore Brooke Bauman at 24:42 to trim the margin to 3-1.

Cook scored her third goal for CNU at 31:36, and Gabby Gillis added another at 35:16. Kristina Toms added goals in the 39th and 42nd minutes to push the lead to 7-1.

The Captains led in shots, 21-11, as well as in corner kicks, 7-3. Allison Nork had five saves and Kelcie Macomber two for the Eagles, who will be back in action on Wednesday when they host Southern Virginia University at 3:30 pm for senior day.
