Junior Julia Albert scored four goals and dished out two assists to lead the ninth-ranked University of Mary Washington women's lacrosse team past fifteenth-ranked Catholic University, 15-12, on Wednesday night. The Eagles improve to 14-3 on the season.

In a very back-and-forth first half, the Cardinals got the scoring started as they scored just 2:32 into the game. UMW answered as they scored three straight goals to take a 3-1 lead. Savannah Boyd scored the first goal, Holly Hudson scored the second, and then Albert scored her first of the game on an assist from Boyd with 22:13 to play.

From there, Catholic scored four straight goals to take a 5-3 lead with 14:27 remaining. Albert put an end to that run as she scored on a free position shot. Hudson tied the game up at five a piece with 11:21 to play. Catholic took the lead 6-5 with 9:34 to play, and then Albert tied it up with just under nine minutes left. 

The Cardinals again took the lead as they scored on a free position shot with 6:43 remaining. Hudson capped the scoring in the first half as she scored on a free position shot with just 1:44 remaining. The Eagles and Cardinals went into halftime tied at 7-7.

The Eagles came out firing in the second half as they scored four straight goals to take an 11-7 lead. Hope Lockwood scored the first two goals, one unassisted and one on a free position shot, and then Kristen Kunaniec scored two straight to give the Eagles a commanding lead with 26:18 to play.

Catholic ended the Eagles' run as they scored two straight to bring the game within two, 11-9. Lockwood added her third of the day on an assist from Albert with 22:29 left. The Cardinals added two more goals to get within one, 12-11, with 18:35 to play. 

From there, Albert scored her fourth of the game on an assist from Hudson in a man-up opportunity and then Mackenzie Maguire scored with 8:39 remaining to give UMW a 14-11 lead. The Cardinals scored with 3:11 to play to put the score at 14-12. Kunaniec put the game away as she scored on an assist from Albert with just 49 seconds left to put the game at 15-12.

Kirsten Littlefield secured six draw controls, picked up five ground balls and caused two turnovers. Rylie Cole secured four draw controls, picked up four ground balls, and caused two turnovers. Hanna Ashby made 10 saves for the Eagles on the day.

UMW will be back in action on Saturday as they will host Marymount in the first-round of the CAC tournament at 1 p.m.
