UMW Women's Lacrosse Coach Caitlin Moore Announces 2017 Recruiting Class

The University of Mary Washington women's lacrosse team finished the 2016 season ranked 12th in the nation, after posting a 15-5 record and advancing to the third round of the NCAA Tournament.  Big wins over three nationally ranked opponents, while fielding a high scoring offense and developing a shutdown defense made for an exciting season. The team GPA was 3.0+ and 16 student-athletes were named to the UMW Athletic Honor Roll.  Since the Capital Athletic Conference is known to be among the toughest and most competitive Division III women's lacrosse conference in the nation, the Eagles are justifiably proud of their accomplishments in 2016.

Eight first years will bolster the program for the 2017 season; goalkeeper Jackie Albanese (NY), defender Abby Bernhardt (MD), defender Dalaney Blottenberger (MD), midfielder Jenny Bosserman (VA), midfielder Lauren Fox (VA), midfielder Lizzy Goernemann (PA), midfielder Paige Haskins (NC) and attacker Madi Hurlburt (MD).  In high school, Blottenberger teamed up with current sophomore attacker Hope Lockwood, and Haskins played with current sophomore draw specialist/midfielder Paige Childers

When asked about the recruiting class, Head Coach Caitlin Moore said, "I am very excited about the additional speed and depth our first years are bringing to the team.  We look forward to getting back out on the field, and continuing the work to put ourselves in a position to seriously challenge for a conference championship and return to the National stage."
