Schwab's Career Day Leads UMW Women's Basketball Past Salem, 91-48

Junior guard Keagan Schwab poured in a career high 30 points to lead the University of Mary Washington women's basketball team to a 91-48 victory over Salem College on Sunday in the Townebank Tipoff Classic at Virginia Wesleyan University. The Eagles improve to 5-0 on the season.

The Eagles raced out to a 28-10 lead in the first quarter, and never looked back - as they continued to shine offensively and defensively. Schwab spearheaded the run, netting 14 points on 6-8 shooting, including a pair of three point baskets. The Eagles led, 47-22, at halftime, and 73-34 after three quarters.

Sophomore guard Elizabeth Dufrane scored 13 points off the bench for UMW, making 5-11 shots, including three three pointers, and junior forward Sydney Sherman added 12 points. Sophomore post Sophia Pavlech led the Eagles with eight rebounds.

In all, Mary Washington shot 45.2% from the field (38-84), making 6-20 three point attempts and 9-18 free throws. Salem shot 26.4% from the field (14-53), making 2-14 shots from deep and 18-24 from the free throw line. UMW led in rebounds, 51-26, and forced 25 Salem turnovers.

The Eagles will be back in action on Tuesday when they host Washington & Lee University at 6:00 p.m.
