Senior Kendall Parker scored 27 points, making seven three-pointers, to lead the University of Mary Washington women's basketball team past Penn St.-Harrisburg, 73-63, on Saturday afternoon in Ron Rosner Arena. The Eagles improve to 11-10 overall, and 10-4 in the CAC.

UMW started out the game fast with four straight points from junior Jordan Pamlanye just 1:53 into the game to go up 4-0. The Eagles then did not score over the next 3:29, and the Nittany Lions tied the game up 4-4. From there, UMW connected on two three-pointers to go up 10-4 with 4:10 left. Penn St.-Harrisburg made a layup with 3:51 left and the Eagles then proceeded to go on a 12-0 run, where Parker knocked down two three-pointers, to up 22-6 with 16 seconds left. The Nittany Lions made a jump shot with three-seconds left and UMW took the lead 22-8 going into the second quarter.

Parker started out the second quarter by nailing another three-pointer, 33 seconds in. Emily Thompson got in the scoring column with 5:59 left in the second quarter to maintain the Eagles lead at 17, 28-11. After a Thompson layup, the Nittany Lions went on a 9-0 run to cut the lead to seven, 30-23. UMW scored the last five points of the half to go up 35-23 into halftime. Parker scored 15 points in the first half.

UMW pushed the lead to 13, 39-26, with 8:49 left on a layup from Meghan Comer. Penn St.-Harrisburg went on an 11-2 run over the next 3:51 to cut the lead to four, 41-37. Parker made another three-pointer to push the lead to seven, 44-37, with 3:14 remaining. Comer grew the lead to nine, 48-39, on a layup with just 1:18 left in the quarter. Comer followed the layup with a three-pointer and the Eagles were up nine, 51-42, heading into the fourth quarter.

The fourth quarter started off very slow as both teams combined for just four points in the first 4:40. The Nittany Lions cut it to seven, 56-49, with 4:53 left. That sparked the Eagles as they went on a 9-0 run and pushed the lead to 65-49 that was capped on two free throws from Parker. Again the Nittany Lions made a little run and cut it to 10, 68-58, but only 42 seconds left on the clock. Penn St.-Harrisburg cut it to eight, 71-63, but the Eagles closed it out and Parker ended her night on two more made free throws to win the game 73-63.

Comer scored 15 points, shooting 6-9 from the field, and added three steals. Pamlanye scored nine points on 4-6 shooting and Thompson scored eight points off the bench going 3-3 in the game. Taylor Barton pulled down a game-high 8 rebounds. The Nittany Lions were led by Tessa Dolce as she scored 15 points. 

The Eagles shot 51.0% (25-49) from the field, making 11-20 three-pointers, and 12-18 free throws. The Nittany Lions shot 40.7% (22-54) from the field, making 9-31 three-pointers, and 10-23 free throws. UMW out-rebounded Penn St.-Harrisburg 37-29 and dished out 13 assists.

UMW will be back in action on Wednesday night as they travel to Frostburg St. for a tip-off set at 6 p.m.
