Senior guard Katie Wimmer and junior center Carol Dye each scored 16 points and added six rebounds to lead the seventh-ranked University of Mary Washington women's basketball team to a 54-48 win at York College in a battle of the top two teams in the Capital Athletic Conference. The Eagles improve to 14-0 in conference play, and move one step closer to an undefeated regular season at 23-0.

The Eagles led throughout, jumping out to a 7-0 lead on a three-point play from Wimmer and four points from Dye. UMW kept the lead between three and seven points throughout the half, with York cutting the deficit to two before a Dye jumper in the final minute gave UMW a 25-21 halftime advantage.

A Dye layup with 6:08 left gave the Eagles a double-digit lead to 11, at 47-36. A pair of Katie Wimmer free throws with 28 seconds left upped the margin to 10, and UMW held on for the six-point victory.

Dye went 8-16 from the floor, while Wimmer shot 4-10 from the floor and made seven free throws. Sophomore Aby Diop led UMW with 11 rebounds, while sophomore Sam Partonen added four points, four assists, and nine rebounds. York was led by Aja Wallpher's 16 points.

Mary Washington will host Stevenson University on Wednesday night at 6:00 in the regular season finale and senior day.
