UMW Outdoor Track & Field Competes at CNU New Captains Classic

The University of Mary Washington men's and women's outdoor track & field teams competed at the Christopher Newport New Captains Classic on Saturday in Newport News, Va.

Jessica Oberlies finished in second place in the 5000 meters at 20:53.77, followed by Amy Rouse, at 21:58.52. Haileigh Byrd was third in the 100 meter hurdles at 16.52 seconds, and the 4x400 meter relay of Caroline Joyce, Camy Delean, Amanda Heckman, and Camila Perez Rondon took second, at 4:23.09.

Byrd was third among collegians in the triple jump at 10.83 meters, Rachel Remer was second in the javelin at 29.73 meters, while Abbie Bolinger was third at 26.52 meters. 

For the men, Matthew O'Cadiz was second in the 3000 meters at 9:08.25, while Blake Mason was third at 9:21.94. Ethan Young finished first in the 110 meter hurdles at 15.33 seconds and the 4x400 meter relay of William Jackson, Darius Reed, Ethan Young, and Nick Onorato finished third at 3:28.56.

Aidan Smagh was third in the high jump at 1.78 meters, Kevin Munson was third in the pole vault at 4.10 meters, and Rajai Walton won the long jump at 7.17 meters.

The Eagles will return to action on April 23 at Johns Hopkins University.
