UMW Track & Field Concludes Day Two of CNU New Captains Classic

The University of Mary Washington men's and women's track and field teams concluded day two of the Christopher Newport University New Captains Classic on Saturday in Newport News, with several top performances.

For the men, Mason Woods won the shot put at 44 feet, 10.75 inches. Ethan Young finished second in the 100 meter hurdles at 15.93, and Samuel Gowe was second in the long jump at 20 feet, 9.75 inches. Kevin Munson was second in the pole vault at 14 feet, 5.25 inches.

On the women's side, Jean Woodrum won the discus throw at 116 feet, 11 inches, as well as the shot put at 39 feet, 0.25 inches. Ashley Applegate won the 3000 steeplechase at 11:55.43. The 4x400 meter relay of Caroline Joyce, Keyes, Leah Saling, and Camila Perez Rondon finished second at 4:17.26, and Josie Allamby was second in the high jump at five feet, one inch. Makaila Keyes was second in the 100 meters at 12.74 seconds, and second in the 200 meters at 25.64 seconds.

The Eagles will return to action next Saturday at home in the UMW Eagle Invitational.
